Sunski Collective Summit 2022

Last month, we got the Sunski Collective together at our Outer Sunset HQ and are still reeling from all the STOKE generated by so many epic humans in one place. Just to refresh, the Sunski Collective is a community of passionate, rad humans that #livelifeoutside. The program strives to help build community, connect with one another, and have fun along the way.

After long overdue hugs and high fives, the Collective learned about Sunski's history from Tom and Michael. The highlight was when Michael told everyone to look in their swag bag- alas, the Salsabol! The first ever Sunski product! Tom then shared the sustainability story and journey of Sunski's origins- it was super fascinating- keep an eye out for the film coming to a theater near you- SUNSKI, the untold story.

Sindre, our head of Design, explained what goes on behind the scenes of creating our sunglasses (and holy smokes, there's a LOT). Crowd favorites included the 'mood boards' along with the hundreds of sketches that go into making a single style of sunglasses. It was super cool.

We then sat out in the backyard and everyone answered the question, "what lights you up?" The answers ranged from spending time outdoors, spreading stoke and positivity, to being a part of a community. Multiples, surfers, cyclists, runners, yogis, a doctor, a scientist, a chef, and a designer. Learn more about each Sunski Collective member on our sweet new blog here.

Our friends over at Hudski were kind enough to lend us their demo fleet for a Golden Gate Park bike adventure. "I've never ridden a mountain bike before" and "I've never ridden through Golden Gate Park before" were overheard as we pedaled through the once sand-covered park. The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, in 1873, wrote: "Of all the white elephants in the city of San Francisco ever owned, they now own the largest in Golden Gate Park, a dreary waste of shifting sand hills where a blade of grass cannot be raised without four posts to keep it from blowing away..."

We did some basking as Nicki led us through a meditation in one of the many hidden forested gems in the park. It's amazing how much a 10 minute meditation can chill the vibe so fast.

Followed up with dinner at our favorite San Francisco neighborhood restaurant, Hook Fish Co., founded by surfers with a desire to bring fresh fish to the community with a transparent, thoughtful source of fish and prepared seafood that empowers local fisherman.

With full bellies and happily worn out from all the good times, the Sunski Collective said their goodbyes along with a bunch more hi-fives. What a DAY!!

So, what lights you up?
